Kathryn L. Hood

Kathy Hood’s practice focuses on insurance defense litigation, including medical malpractice, professional malpractice and product liability.  She also represents health care providers in professional licensing defense, Medicare/Medicaid Audit defense, and HIPAA compliance defense.  She has tried cases in Florida state and federal courts. Kathy is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by The Florida Bar, which distinguishes her as a specialist and an expert in her practice area. She has an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review rating system, which represents the highest level of professional excellence for ethical standards and legal ability.

Kathy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science with honors from Florida State University, where she was Phi Beta Kappa and a member of Alphi Phi Omega, a national service fraternity.   She received her Juris Doctorate from Washington & Lee University School of Law.  During law school, Kathy interned with the Honorable Ross W. Krumm, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Virginia and served as the law school’s representative to the American Bar Association.  Kathy is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and Tallahassee Womens’ Lawyer.  Kathy is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted to practice in U.S. District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. 

Prior to joining the firm, Kathy practiced insurance defense for twenty years in Tallahassee.
